Cellular Backhaul

Challenge

Establishing reliable connectivity across diverse regions presented significant obstacles. The projects required overcoming harsh climates, difficult terrain, and the extreme remoteness of sites in Africa and Latin America. Additionally, there was a fundamental need to enhance overall network efficiency between remote locations and central hubs.

Solution and Execution

Leveraging expertise built since 2012, BCom delivered complete, turnkey Cellular Backhaul (CBH) solutions to address these connectivity barriers. BCom managed the entire project lifecycle, with execution including:

  • End-to-End Management: System design, procurement of integration materials, comprehensive logistics management, and on-site installation.
  • Infrastructure Deployment: Establishing hub infrastructures, installation and commissioning large-scale 4.8m, 4.9m, and 7.3m Ku-band antennas. Rolling out 100+ remote sites (1.2m and 2.4m).
  • Network Optimization: Using specific configuration to maximize efficiency by implementing Qos policies. Advanced IP header compression and payload aggregation techniques are also utilized to minimize network overhead and ensure seamless connectivity.

Measurable Results

  • Mass Scale Deployment: Successfully deployed hundreds of remote stations throughout Africa and Latin America.
  • Operational Impact: Enhanced overall network efficiency and drove meaningful, tangible progress in rural connectivity allowing mobile network operators (MNo) to increase their coverage or upgrade available technology (3G/4G).
